To qualify for admission, applicants must meet all of the following requirements. Admission is selective and meeting these minimum requirements does not guarantee admission. 1. General Admission Requirements of the University Applicants seeking admission to a master's degree program should have obtained a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, or an approved equivalent qualification. 2. English Language Admission Requirements Applicants have to fulfill English Language requirements with one of the following proficiency attainments: TOEFL iBT: 80 (for tests taken prior to 21 January 2026) * 4.5 (for tests taken from 21 January 2026 onwards) * TOEFL pBT: 550 TOEFL Revised paper-delivered test: 60 (total scores for Reading, Listening and Writing sections) IELTS (Academic Module): Overall score: 6.5 and All sub-score: 5.5 * * Refers to scores in one single attempt only. Test at home option is not accepted. Applicants are not required to present TOEFL or IELTS score if their first language is English, or they obtained the bachelor's degree (or equivalent) from an institution where the medium of instruction was English. 3. Program-Specific Admission Requirements A bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, or A bachelor’s degree in other disciplines with at least two years of post-qualification work experience relevant to the program 4. Additional Information Selected applicants will be invited to participate in an online interview conducted by faculty members Integrated Bachelor-Master Pathway Only for HKUST students in Year 3 or above who are studying a bachelor's degree in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Science (COMP/COSC), Computer Engineering (CPEG), Data Science and Technology (DSCT), Information Systems, and Business Statistics and Operations Management (RMBI). Admission depending on academic excellence. Successful applicants will receive a conditional offer for admission to MEng(AIE) and need to pay a deposit at the prevailing deposit rate. They will be allowed to start taking MEng(AIE) courses in their final year of undergraduate study, and will enter the MEng(AIE) Program upon successful completion of the undergraduate degree. Upon entering MEng(AIE), they can transfer up to 6 credits taken during the undergraduate study to fulfill the MEng(AIE) program requirements. Demonstrate leadership, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills related to AI and technology innovation to enable the successful commercialization and sustainable deployment of AI solutions in the marketplace. 四、课程设置（英文原文） Minimum Credit Requirement 36 credits Core Courses 9 credits MAIE 5101 MAIE 5102 MAIE 5103 Elective Courses 21 credits (i) Introductory Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Courses Students are required to choose at least three courses from the following list: MAIE 5209 MAIE 5211 MAIE 5212 MAIE 5421 (ii) Advanced Artificial Intelligence Technology Courses Students are required to choose at least two courses from the following list: MAIE 5531 MAIE 5532 MAIE 5533 (iii) Advanced Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Courses Students are required to choose at least two courses from the following list: MAIE 5534 MAIE 5535 Subject to the approval of the Program Director, students may take MAIE 6000 which covers any of the above course areas. MAIE 6000 Practicum 6 credits MAIE 6500 Students are required to complete MAIE 6500, normally in the second year of studies, to gain invaluable insights from world-leading industry experts. The course is delivered through a combination of seminars, interactive workshops and company visits, providing a rich blend of theoretical knowledge and practical industry experience. MAIE 6600 Students are required to enroll in a year-long internship in Shanghai, normally in their second year of studies. Students can choose to join an AI company as an internship or start an AI startup company. Each student will be supervised by one academic faculty member and one industry expert as a pair. Remarks Students failing to meet the graduation grade average (GGA) requirement of 2.850 or above are required to repeat or take additional course(s) even if they attain passing grades for all courses.
